Nico Rosberg triumphed at the Bahrain Grand Prix, making it his second consecutive win this season.
World champion Lewis Hamilton took pole position but after a bad start he found himself in the pack, taking 3rd place. He hoped to make it his 3rd Bahrain victory but a collision with Valtteri Bottas put him on the back front. Although the front wing of his car was damaged in the crash and Hamilton was in 7th he regained composure to chase.
Sebastian Vettel suffered engine failure in the formation lap, therefore Kimi Raikkonen was left to fly the flag for Ferrari and finished 2nd. Raikkonen kept pace with Rosberg and is no stranger to the Bahrain track, but Rosberg was just too fast.
Rosberg crossed the line 10seconds clear of his opponent and 2nd place taker Raikkonen, putting him 17points clear of his Mercedes teammate.
Here’s the standings for the Bahrain Grand Prix:
Although in whole Ferarri’s Raikkonen had a good day, the failure of Vettel’s engine will cause massive concern for Ferrari. The cars are good enough to rival Mercedes this season and if Vettel didn’t have engine failure he could have quite possibly been on the podium too.
After the race Hamilton claimed it was the damage to his car that stopped him for challenging 1st and 2nd place and was applauded for his comeback.
Rosberg’s 5 wins have matched the record for the number of consecutive grand prix wins which Hamilton achieved and it looks like Rosberg’s form will be hard to beat.
The Chinese Grand Prix is next up, who do you think will win?
