So here’s how…
To establish the racing line of a go karting track various things need to be taken into account, such as the approach, the braking point, the turn in point, the high point and exit.
You need to bare in mind that sometimes the fastest line through a corner will not be ideal for your overall track speed and will slow you down. Transitions need to be considered for corners to ensure they are smooth and flowing, else again you risk at slowing yourself down. Forward thinking is a must.
You should always try to brake in a straight line being careful not to lock your wheels. Remember the golden rule is to enter a corner slow and exit fast, you want to increase your exit speed not your entry. Often braking will just be lifting your foot off the accelerator to slow down gradually.
With regards to braking for corners you want to try and leave this as late as possible, this will assist with boosting your lap speed. Obviously being the fastest is a must, winner winner.
TURN IN POINT
You want to lift your foot off the accelerator before the turn and keep the kart straight and wide before you begin the taking the corner. Remember you want to approach on the outside of the track.
