Why Children Can’t Compete In Karting Race Events

One of the most common questions we get asked is “why can’t my child compete in a race event?” If you have looked at any of our event options such as our Iron Man race, you will see we require a minimum age of 16 years old for those wanting to drive.

The question is why?

Events such as Iron Man, Grand Prix, Endurance and Sprint are all classified as Racing Events in accordance to insurance regulations. Therefore anyone under the age of 16 years old is not covered for these races due to the guidelines set out by insurers.

Those below 16 years old

We do have options for drivers 16 years and below. For those 8 years+ we have practice laps that range from 30-55 laps and party options, both of these events require a minimum height of 4ft 2inches.

We also have Unlimited Karting available for those 12 years+, the minimum age is higher for this event due to the competitive nature of unlimited karting and general competence of drivers. Our minimum height is 4ft 7inches for this race as no junior karts are used.
