As well as owning TopGear karting we also own various paintball sites across the UK and Scotland – Battlezone Paintball. Owning the two companies doesn’t come without its weird and wonderful questions.
One of the questions we get asked is… can we play paintball whilst karting?
It’s a novelty idea don’t get us wrong but it’s also very dangerous and isn’t something we offer.
The danger element will be elevated. Crashes will be more inevitable and injuries will proliferate – imagine crashing and being shot it’s double the injury. Karting is already classified as an extreme sport due to its high risk, this would add even more unnecessary danger.
Holding a gun whilst driving at speeds of up to 40kph is neither safe nor viable. Karting is complex and requires maximum concentration, driving lines need to be taken into account, people overtaking, when to brake, when to stop. Drivers have enough to focus on without throwing paintballing to the mix.
It takes away the strategy of paintball, if your shooting whist karting the tactical part of paintball vanishes – you won’t be able to seek cover, crawl or run. Paintball is hard accuracy wise at the best of times never mind whilst you’re steering, breaking, accelerating and shooting.
If this combination of sports was ever given the go ahead, what paintball gun would you choose?
It’s much safer and more fun to partake in the two sports separately.
